Weekly Wrap – Week 12

Quiz Night, Rain and Postponed matches headlined a weekend where only the OISC women ended up taking to the field.

All of the men’s matches scheduled to take place on Saturday against Modbury Jets and Northern Pitbulls were postponed owing to pitch conditions following the Armageddon of rain that had fallen in the lead up to match day.

Following a re-schedule of their fixture away to Westminster the OISC Women started cautiously against an evenly matched side. Westminster was able to press forward with the early momentum but the well organised defensive unit led by Lucia Caretti and Enya Malbon kept the attacking moves from sticking. OISC then stated to wrestle control back in the middle of the park through Natalia Rossi. Gemma Bateman provided an excellent outlet up front and Niki Kapnistis capitalised on some of her good work, giving OISC a 1-0 lead. Gemma then extended it to 2-0 before half time. After the half OISC created many more chances through Sarah Tronnolone up front, but conceded through a corner & subsequent goal mouth scramble. Isabella Rossi then made a great one on one save to deny Westminster the equaliser with their second only real attempt on goal all match. Finally Sarah got the goal OISC deserved, by getting onto a goal-kick and lobbing the keeper from all of 30 yards with an excellent first time volley to seal the match 3-1.

Thanks to those who attended Quiz Night on Saturday night a great night was had by all in attendance. Congratulations to those on the #out /Yeah Yeah Yeah table for taking the night out, followed by Danzo and his compatriots in second and Kangarida third. Dishonourable mention to table #hashtag for successfully managing to answer too many correct table questions knocking themselves out of the mystery prize position, wilfully taken by The Mob. Also congratulations to all those who picked up something in the silent auction or won a prize in the raffle. Big thanks to all of those people and businesses who donated prizes and helped with the night to make it a success.

Next week things hopefully return to normal with all men’s teams at Glenunga on Saturday with the A/B/C Grades taking on BOSA and the D/E Grades facing McLaren Districts. The OISC women meanwhile line up in the Cup Quarter Final against Elizabeth Downs at Argana Park on Sunday morning.

Fundraising is NOW DUE, please return all chocolate money and Raffle Books FULLY SOLD to a committee member ASAP.

Poker Night is also coming up on Saturday July 19 from 6:30pm at St Ignatius Parish Hall (Queen Street, Norwood). Stay tuned to the website and Facebook for event details.
