Football is back with the OISC Captain’s Armband at The Maylands Hotel last night, launching Season 2015.
This is where captains are named and the hopes and aspirations for the upcoming season are set out.
The night opened with a welcome from OISC President, Nicholas Tallarida, who looked toward building on the good foundation that was set in the pre-season with strong attendances and competition for spots hopefully leading to success on the field for all sides.
The women’s team looking to build on an outstanding 2014 with coaches Daniel Rossi and Julian Soriano announcing 2014 Captain Sarah Tronnolone will again lead the side. Lucia Caretti and 2014 best and fairest Gabby Parente were named Vice Captains showing the strong leadership and “bonds” that they hope will again yield good results on the field.
D Grade Coach and expert public speaker Daniel ‘Danzo’ Hurt again named David Leach captain, he will be joined by Martin Radcliffe as vice captain. On receiving the armband Leachy paid tribute to the clubs long history and a bright future with so many young players taking the field in 2015.
The C Grade elected to keep things the same, naming the same captain as the past two seasons with Frank Maio again receiving the armband. Coach Jim Koufalis also looking to the natural leadership of 2014 B Grade skipper Paul Barolo as his deputy.
B Grade Coach Daniel Rossi had a wide field to select from with many players moving through the side in the pre-season. Adam Ciano was named Vice Captain and to avoid family rivalry announced Co-Captains of John and Tom Smith.
A Grade Coach Theo Mylonas heeded the good pre-season results and hoped that they would follow into the season. A leadership group was named with Julian Sartoretto, Elias Khoury and Peter Barone Vice Captains and Gary Dal Broi named as club captain for 2015, his natural leadership a clear choice to see OISC return to the top of Div 1 football.
