The final week of the season saw only the E Grade record a win against Stirling, 2-1. Elsewhere the A and B Grades both 0-2 to Stirling. The C Grade lost to Monarchs 1-5, the D Grade went down to Monarchs 2-3 in a close encounter and the F Grade lost to One Tree Hill 0-4.
Overall season 2011 brought the club mixed results on the field, with the A Grade achieving their aim of securing Premier Division Football in 2012 by finishing 7th, but the C Grade finding it difficult in Division 3A and subsequently finishing last. Both the B Grade and D Grade enjoyed successful seasons, finishing in the top 4, while the social teams both had enjoyable and competitive seasons, finishing mid table in their respective divisions.
Finally, OISC would like to thank all those involved during season 2011 - sponsors, coaches, committee, players and supporters. The Club continues to go from strength to strength and with your continued support we look forward to season 2012.
To celebrate season 2011, the Club's annual Presentation Evening will be held at our major sponsor, The Robin Hood Hotel on Friday, October 7. Tickets are still available for the event and include a 3 course meal and beer, wine and soft drinks for the evening. To book or enquire, please contact Nick Tallarida on 0431 187 167.

Elsewhere the E Grade lost a close encounter with Sturt Marion 3-4, while the C Grade lost 1-5 to FC Adelaide and the A Grade went down 1-0 to Sturt Marion.

A GRADE OFFICIALLY SECURE DIVISION 1 FOOTBALL IN 2012!
The E Grade enjoyed another week off at the same time as the F Grade faced Strathalbyn at home, the C and D Grade travelled to Pumas and A and B Grade travelled away to Allstars United.
The F Grade lost 7-2 in a game that was highlighted by Michael Pannunzio scoring a brace to elevate himself to the top of the F Grade goal scoring chart with two games remaining. The C Grade also lost 5-1 against Pumas as they fight to record their first win.
The D Grade meanwhile romped home again 5-1, scoring more than 4 goals in a game for the 5th successive game, and winning their 6th game on the trot. The late charge by the team has placed them in 3rd and outside contenders for the title.
The B Grade continued on from last week's thrashing of Modbury, beating Allstars United 3-0 away from home. The big story of the day though was the A Grade, who comfortably accounted for Allstars United 2-1 to mathematically secure Division 1 Football for 2012 after achieving promotion last year. The recent run of form has seen the team lose 1 of their last 7 encounters and move into a mid-table position, as they look to close out the season with more wins.

This week saw a break for the A and E Grades, while the B Grade played a catch up against Modbury Jets at home, the C and D Grade played ACU Falcons at home and the F Grade travelled to CCM United.
The F Grade went down away from home 2 -0 in a game they would have been disappointed to lose given they won the corresponding fixture in the first half of the season 9-0.
The D Grade meanwhile continued their late surge for the title, comprehensively accounting for Falcons, 7-0. The C Grade however weren't as lucky and went down to Falcons 2-0 in a tightly contested affair, as they search for their first win of the season.
In the B Grade catch-up against Modbury, the team were looking forward to a tight match against Modbury, only to come away with an astonishing 7-0 win against a team that beat them earlier in the season.

OISC faced title contenders BOSA at home in the A, B and E Grades, while the C and D Grades travelled to Adelaide Uni and the F Grade hosted Southern Breakers.
Away from home, the D Grade got the tie against Adelaide Uni off to a good start, beating Uni 5-3 after leading by 3 goals at the break. The C Grade were very competitive but again went down in the first team match 4-1.
In the early match at Glenunga the F Grade went down 3-0 to Southern Breakers despite being competitive and going into the 70th minute at 0-0. OISC always looked dangerous and the final score line didn't reflect the teams competitiveness throughout the match.
The E Grade kicked off the BOSA tie at 11.30am, and started the game brightly, only to fade as the challenging conditions took their toll on the team's fitness. In the end the E Grade lost a close contest 2-1, in a match that could have gone either way. Things were much the same in the B Grade match up against BOSA, where BOSA won the game 3-1 in challenging conditions.
In the 3pm kick off, the A Grade faced table toppers BOSA knowing that any points picked up in this clash would further secure Division 1 Football in 2012 and dent BOSA's title hopes. In what was a close fought encounter in difficult and soggy conditions, OISC were the better side for much of the first half and took a deserved half time lead into the break, 1-0. The match became a tense affair for most of the second half, with BOSA equalising before both teams had a flurry of chances late in the game to seal it, but both failing to capitalise, the game ending 1-1.

It was rivalry round this weekend, with OISC taking on St Peters in Division 1 and Gleeson in Division 3. The E Grade had a bye and the F Grade faced Hahndorf.
In the early fixture, the F Grade scored a fantastic win over Hahndorf, 2-1. Damien Mercurio notched up his first goal for the season in the opening minutes of the game, allowing the team to push on and do enough to close the game out for another good win.
Elsewhere the D Grade got the Division 3 tie against Gleeson off to a good start, winning 4-3 in a tightly contested encounter. The C Grade was unable to follow the example set by the reserves however, and went down to Gleeson at home 4-1.
Meanwhile, the B Grades recent tough run continued, going down 3-0 to a St Peters side that they beat in the corresponding fixture earlier in the year. The B's will no doubt look to bounce back at home to BOSA this weekend.
In the A Grade clash, OISC started well, limiting St Peters to shots from distance and frustrating the hosts into some rash tackling that saw Sabatino off injured early. The team held out though, continuing to defend well through the half, until Saints pinched a goal in the 60th minute. While another injury forced substitution dented OISC's chances, the team pressed forward and the match began to open up with chances for both sides. Unfortunately the equaliser remained elusive and OISC lost the tie 1-0, ending a 4 match unbeaten run for the team.
Despite the loss, OISC are still 9 points clear of the relegation zone occupied by All Stars and Modbury with 4 games to go. The team goes into a tough clash against BOSA at home this weekend knowing that a win will go further towards securing Division 1 football for 2012.

A tough weekend of football saw 5 of the 6 OISC teams playing away, with the A, B and E Grades all away to Salisbury Villa (3rd place in Division 1) and the C and D Grades making the trek up to Murray Bridge. The F Grade was the only team at home, hosting Mount Lofty.
The F Grade played out a tense match against Mt Lofty, in the end going down 2-1. The win saw Mt Lofty move off the bottom spot in the table, handing that honour to CCM United. The F Grade now sit one spot above Mt Lofty in 8th, although with a game in hand.
The C and D Grades made the trip up to Murray Bridge full of confidence following some good performances from the C's, despite not being able to get the final result. The D Grade ended up winning comprehensively against the bridge 5-0, while the C Grade was again unable to get it to work for them on the day, going down 3-0.
Down at Salisbury Villa meanwhile, the E Grade barely got on to the park with only 7 people turning up for the kick off. Luckily the E Grade was able to hold out Salisbury Villa for the first 20 minutes while the rest of the squad arrived. The game then picked up a notch, with OISC leading 2-1 until the dying minutes when Salisbury Villa thought they had snatched a point with a goal from a corner. OISC scored immediately after the restart though with a fantastic combination of passes and the last kick of the game handing OISC the points, 3-2.
That set the tone for the A and B Grade matches, with the B Grade coming back from 2-0 down to steal a 2-2 draw against Villa despite a largely uninspiring performance. The A Grade meanwhile played out a cagey affair against a physical Salisbury Villa outfit. The game had a few flashpoints that saw the referee reach for his cards on more than one occasion, but probably not often enough. Despite the tense physical affair, OISC played well, carving out good chances and conceding few to earn a deserved point away from home with a 0-0 draw. The result means the A Grade have now been unbeaten in their last 4 matches.
Week 17 sees the F Grade away to Hahndorf, the E's enjoying a bye, while the C and D Grades take on rivals Gleeson at home and the A and B Grades travel away to face the old enemy - Saint Peters in what should be an interesting affair.

Only two games were played this weekend at Glenunga due to the Cup Round. In the early match, the F Grade took on Flinders Uni in a league catch-up game. The F Grade played well and pushed Flinders all the way, despite losing heavily to them in a previous round. Despite being 3-2 up towards the end of the game, the F Grade conceded in the latter stages to finish the game against their more fancied opponents 3-3.
In the Reserve Cup match up, the B Grade faced Brahma Lodge, a Sunday Division 2 team that the D Grade had lost to in the previous round of the cup, 2-1. The B Grade started emphatically, with their wingers running at the Brahma Lodge defence at every opportunity. This created chances and sure enough, OISC soon found themselves 2-0 up and in control of the match. Unfortunately, what happened next can only be described as comical, with an own goal and two consecutive penalties gifted to Brahma Lodge courtesy of slackening off and harsh refereeing. As soon as they had found themselves 2-0 up, OISC were suddenly 3-2 down heading into the half. After the break, things went from bad to worse, as OISC conceded again before then having two players sent off in bizarre circumstances, with questionable refereeing decisions again at the heart of the matter. The game finished with OISC losing 5-2 to Brahma Lodge after having been 2-0 up in the first 10 minutes.
28 GOALS SCORED IN FOOTBALL BONANZA!
With persistent rain over the last two weeks, OISC welcomed Mobury and Red Blue Eagles to a very wet and muddy Glenunga that had already caused the F Grade to have their fixture against Flinders rescheduled to next week (July 16). While the conditions had many predicting defensive, low scoring contests, OISC managed to deliver a whopping 28 goals scored across only four fixtures!
The E Grade got OISC off to a fantastic start, comprehensively accounting for Modbury Jets, 5-0. The D Grade followed suit with a solid 2-1 victory in the 1pm time slot, while the B Grade was unfortunately cancelled by the attending referee due to poor pitch conditions on the larger field. The C Grade played one of their most exciting games for the season; narrowly losing to league leading Red Blue Eagles 6-5 in a game that highlighted the fact that the team can match it with the leaders in Division 3, and with a little luck, start to get some wins on the board.
Finally, in the most important fixture of the day, the A Grade came up against a Modbury Jets outfit that found themselves languishing at the bottom of the table in the relegation zone. Both sides had supporters on hand to add to the atmosphere and the game didn't disappoint, with OISC delivering a thrilling 5-4 victory over the Jets. OISC was on top for most of the game, but made simple errors and squandered numerous chances to gift Modbury a 3-2 lead heading into the break. This was soon corrected, as OISC continued to play well after the break and surged ahead 5-3, before conceding late, to make the final score a 5-4 victory to OISC. With Wanderers also losing at the weekend, the win sees OISC a full 8 points clear of the relegation zone and 6 points clear of 8th placed Wanderers heading into the Cup Round weekend.
Finally, I'd like to encourage you to get yourself down to Glenunga on July 16 to see the F Grade play Flinders at 11.30am and the B Grade play Brahma Lodge in their Cup Round match at 12.30pm. A win will see the B Grade progress to the quarter finals of the Reserve Cup!

This weekend was a disappointing one for the club, with only the bright spot being the A Grade mustering a well-earned draw away to table topping Adelaide Villa, 1-1. The B Grade lost 2-1, the C Grade played well but still went down to Flinders 3-0 and the D Grade had one of their worst performances of the year to lose 5-1 to Flinders. Elsewhere the E Grade lost 2-1 to Adelaide Uni and the F Grade lost 6-4 to Northern Wolves.
Overall it was a tough weekend for OISC, but on the bright side, the A Grade have now moved into 7th position - 3 points clear of 8th position and more importantly, 5 points clear of the relegation zone. This weekends battle against Modbury (in 9th and 5 points behind OISC) at home looms as a crucial one for both clubs, with an OISC win able to put the club a full 8 points clear of the relegation zone with 6 matches remaining.
All 6 teams are at home next weekend (9 July), so come out and support the club in one of the few sextuple headers for 2011!

OISC A Grade hosted Adelaide Wanderers in a key clash that would likely send one of the two sides into a relegation battle for the remainder of the year. The C and D Grade meanwhile were away to league leaders Monarchs and the E and F Grades faced Cove and One Tree Hill respectively.
With an exciting tie against Wanderers, the OISC supporters turned out in droves to watch their A Grade put on one of their most comprehensive performances of the year in a 4-1 dismantling of Wanderers. Despite scoring first, Wanderers were always second best, finishing the game with only 9 men following 90 minutes of sustained pressure and defensive structure. The B Grade also recorded a 4-1 win against Wanderers.
Elsewhere the C Grade lost 4-0 to league leaders Monarchs, the D Grade went down 4-3 and the F Grade suffered their worst defeat to One Tree Hill, losing 14-1. The E Grade meanwhile had a good win at home against Cove, 3-2.

OISC hosted Stirling for round 9 of the Division 1 season this weekend, while the C and D Grades were away to FC Adelaide in their round 8 clash. The E and F Grades both played at home against Stirling and Mclaren District respectively.
Unfortunately it proved to be a pretty tough weekend for all OISC teams, with only the D Grade coming away from FC Adelaide with strong 3-1 victory. The C Grade were again agonisingly close in their 2-1 defeat to FC Adelaide, while Mclaren Districts showed why it was top of the table in their 6-1 win against the F Grade. Elsewhere the A, B and E Grade all fell victim to Stirling at home, with the E Grade losing 3-1, B Grade losing 2-0 and the A Grade also going down 3-1.
As we begin to move into the second half of the league season in the coming two weeks, our B Grade sit in 5th position (on 14 points) on the ladder and the A Grade find themselves in 8th position (on 8 points). The D Grade are 5th position, but only two points off the lead, while the C Grade are currently bottom of Division 3. The E Grade are currently 6th in Division 5 and the F Grade are 7th in Division 6.
In the coming weekend (June 25) the 8th placed A Grade have a vital clash with 7th placed Wanderers at home and a win would go some way to building confidence for the remainder of the season. The B Grade also take on Wanderers at home, while the C and D Grade face a trip to Monarchs, the E Grade head out to Cove and the F Grade are away to One Tree Hill.

Another week of Cup Round action at Glenunga and OISC were keen to get through to the next round and repeat and better the success of the B Grade runners up result in the 2009 Reserve Cup.
The A Grade played out a very competitive 2-0 loss to Sunday Division 1 leaders Parafield Gardens that saw them go down early 1-0 and concede again in the dying seconds of the game when they threw everyone forward for a corner. A good contest between the two sides showed OISC was not out of their depth playing against Gardens, although lacked the intensity to consistently put a calm and controlled Gardens performance under the pump.
The B Grade got a fantastic win over Modbury Jets 5-1 in the Reserve Cup, with Tim Asimos scoring a hat-trick. The B Grade ensured they got revenge for the 4-1 loss they suffered at the hands of Jets earlier in the season in a league match.
Finally the D Grade travelled to Brahma Lodge to take on the Sunday Division 2 team in the Reserve Cup. The D Grade side was a bit depleted, with the coach Peter D'argenio, forward Daniel D'argenio and key defenders Andrew Talbot and Adam Kangas unavailable or not eligible for selection in the cup round. This saw Daniel Rossi and Robert Balestrin pull the strings from the bench, with Owen Teakle, F Grade Coach Bacon and the messiah David Leach helping out as the teams "super subs".
The team expected a tough encounter against the Brahma boys, but good organisation at the back, work rate and clever passing up front saw them control the game for large periods as they pushed Brahma Lodge all the way and were very unlucky not to win.

This week saw the A, B and E Grade away to Div 1 runaway leaders Sturt Marion and the C and D Grade welcome old enemy Pumas to fortress Glenunga, a team the Ds beat to the division 4 championship twice in the last two years.
Ultimately the A, B and E Grade were unsuccessful away from home, with only the B Grade able to muster a point. It was particularly unfortunate for the A Grade, who by all accounts were right in the game for the entire 90 minutes and were only defeated by their own poor finishing.
The C Grade lost to Pumas at home 3-0 in a game that saw three players go down with hamstrings for Ivan's team, while the D Grade absolutely belted Pumas reserves 7-1 in the earlier match. The D's were 1-0 up in 25 seconds (official referee timing) and 3-0 up within 10 minutes. The team then played out a fiery encounter with a side that were well and truly beaten by half time - even Treasurer Tallarida got on the scoresheet!
Finally, the F Grade continued its recent run of form to seal a great win away from home against Strathalbyn 2-1.

Another week of football and our F Grade have secured their first win for the season in some style, with a 9-1 thrashing of CCM United at home and in front of a solid crowd. It was a fantastic performance by Bacon's boys, in what should set them on a roll for the rest of the year.
Elsewhere, the A Grade got a good win against All Stars 3-0 that sees them move up into 7th, while the B Grade had a disappointing draw against a very beatable All-stars team at 2-2. The C Grade weren't able to build on last week's positive result and went down 6-1 to ACU Falcons, while the D Grade returned to winning ways with a 4-2 win and the D'argenio boys doing the damage in front of goal.

It was a tough weekend for OISC, with our A, B, D and F sides all losing and our E and C Grades just coming up short in well played draws. The A and B Grade both lost 2-0 to BOSA away, while the C Grade earned their first point for the season with a 1-1 draw against Uni and were very unlucky not to get the points. The D Grade lost at home to Uni 2-1, while the E's were controversially robbed by the referee with a last gasp penalty given against them ensuring the tie ended a draw at 2-2. Our F Grade meanwhile travelled up to Port Elliot and went down 2-1.

Week 6 saw the A, B, C and D grades play in the first round of the Amateur League Challenge and Reserve Cups. In the Challenge Cup the A grade faced Sunday Division 3 side Asia United at home, while the C grade had a tough away test against Saturday Division 2 side Budapest. In the Reserve Cup the B grade also drew Asia United at home while the D grade were pitted against Saturday Division 2 side Comets.
Three of the four OISC sides progressed to the next round of the cup, with the D grade winning a fantastic battle 4-2 against Comets, the B grade thumping Asia United 10-1 and the A grade winning 4-2 against Asia United also, despite making life hard for themselves. Unfortunately the C grade were knocked out of the cup after a tough 4-1 loss away to Budapest.
Week 5 matches began at home with the F grade pushing hard for their first win against Hahndorf, while the E grade played a friendly against Adelaide Uni. The D and C grades were away to Gleeson in a tough Division 3 encounter and the A and B grades faced old enemy St Peters at home for the first time in a Division 1 league match since 2008.
Ultimately it was a difficult round for all OISC teams, with only the B grade proving victorious and the F grade playing their best match of the season to record a 3-3 draw against a Hahndorf side that equalised late in the game. The D grade lost 5-3 to Gleeson and the C grade lost 4-2 to Gleeson, while the A grade lost at home 3-1 to Saint Peters. The E grade meanwhile played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in their friendly match against Adelaide Uni.
This week sees a respite from the league as the A, B, C and D grade play their first round cup matches. The A and B grade face Asia United at Home while the C and D grades are away to Budapest and Comets.
The A, B and E grade played at home this weekend against Salisbury Villa while the C and D grade hosted table topping Murray Bridge and the F grade were away to Mount Lofty. The fixture was particularly important for the A and C grades who were seeking their first wins of the season.
The E grade started the day with a hard fought 2-2 draw against a determined Salisbury Villa outfit, but after controlling much of the play felt they deserved more. They lead for most of the game and were 2-1 up late in the second half until a handball in the box gave Villa the opportunity they needed to tie the game. The D grade wouldn't make the same mistake against Murray Bridge, starting strongly to take a 3-1 lead in the first half, before finishing 5-3 victors. Unfortunately the C grade were unable to fashion a win for themselves against Division 3 leaders Murray Bridge and lost 5-2, while the F grade were also unfortunate to go down 4-1 against Mount Lofty in what was a closer affair than the score suggests.
In Division 1 the B grade got off to a fantastic start and romped to victory 5-0 against Salisbury Villa. It was an outstanding display by all in what was a good recovery from their last round loss against the Jets. The A grade tried to follow suit and took and early lead against Villa in a first half that they comfortably controlled. While OISC attempted to make life difficult for themselves in the second half, they ended up 3-2 victors in what was an important win that will shoot them up the table and keep them in touch with the leaders.
Overall another weekend of action packed football at Glenunga that saw an amazing 29 goals scored across five home matches! Be sure to head out and support your OISC team next weekend with the A grade set to play their most anticipated match of the season against arch rivals St Peters at Glenunga and the C and D grades playing away to rivals Gleeson.

Week three saw all 6 OISC teams playing away, with the E, B and A grade away to Modbury Jets, the F grade away to........... and the C and D grade away to Red Blue Eagles.
Results across the weekend were again mixed, with the E grade (1-0 winners) and the D grade (3-0 winners) proving victorious, while the F grade (lost 7-1), C grade (lost 4-0) and B grade (lost 4-1) suffered heavy defeats. The A-grade meanwhile squandered a 2-0 lead to draw against a determined Modbury Jets outfit to finish with a 3-3 draw, despite an outstanding individual hatrick from Shane "the future" Leane.
It may have been a disappointing weekend for 4 of our 6 teams, but with the season still young there is plenty of opportunity for all our OISC teams to improve and push for honours this year.
Week two of the Regular season began with all 6 teams playing at home in our first sextuple header at fortress Glenunga. Despite a mix-up in playing times which saw our F-grade opponents Northern Wolves fail to attend, the E grade faced up to Adelaide Uni, while the C and D grade hosted Flinders Uni. The A and B grade played host to last years Division 1 champions Adelaide Villa.
Results across the weekend turned out to be mixed, with the E grade recording an exciting 2-1 victory against Adelaide uni, while the D grade suffered a 0-2 loss and the C grade fell agonisingly short in a thrilling 4-5 loss to Flinders Uni. The B grade continued their bright start to the season with another resounding 3-0 victory against Adelaide Villa reserves and the A-grade bagged their first point with a tough 1-1 draw against last years Div 1 champions Adelaide Villa.
Overall it was another fantastic weekend of football at Glenunga with an astonishing 19 goals scored across 5 fixtures!
April 2 saw the season begin for the A and B grade teams with a tricky away match at Adelaide Wanderers, while the C and D grade played in the preliminary cup round at home. The E-grade faced Cove away in their first round of the season, while the F grade had a bye.
The results are set out below:
A Lost 0-3 Adelaide Wanderers
B Won 3-0 Adelaide Wanderers
C Won 9-2 Dragon Rangers
D Won 2-2 Hazara FT, 4-2 on penalties
E Lost 0-5 Cove
F - Bye
The Season starts next weekend for our C, D and F grade teams, while our A-grade face a stern test against last years Division one champions, Adelaide Villa. The fixture will see all six teams playing at home for the season, so head out to Glenunga this weekend for a beer and one of our famous "wolf burgers," as matches will be underway all day between 11am and 5pm.
Stay tuned for full fixture lists and match reports to be available shortly.
The final weekend of trial matches saw the A Grade, B Grade, and Social Es visit picturesque Hahndorf on Saturday, the C Grade and D Grade visit Athelstone on Sunday, and the Social Fs visit Para Hills West to take on their league champion Over 35 team on Sunday.
The results are set out below:
A 2-2 Hahndorf
B 1-1 Hahndorf
C 1-1 Athelstone
D 0-2 Athelstone
Social E 2-1 Hahndorf C
Social F 1-6 Para Hills West Over 35
The season starts next weekend with the Preliminary Cup for our Division 3 teams, and Round One for the remaining squads.
A healthy number of supporters, players, and members turned out tonight for our Captain's Armband Presentation and 2011 season launch at the Robin Hood Hotel.
Congratulations to the following players who were named captain of the respective side for 2011.
A: Adrian Stenta
B: Mark Andrawos
C: Branko Ripa
D: Josh Bollenhagen
Social E: Craig Walker
Social F: Daniel Hurt
The SAASL tonight released the draw for the Preliminary Round of the Challenge Cup and the Reserve Cup. Our Division 1 teams (A Grade and B Grade) get a bye into the main draw of both Cups, while our Division 3 teams (C Grade and D Grade) are both in the hat when the Preliminary Round is drawn.
The C Grade will play Dragon Rangers (Sunday Division 5) at home on 2 April 2011 in the Challenge Cup. Kickoff will be 2:45pm. Dragon Rangers were in Saturday Division 4 last year and played our champion C Grade twice, with OISC triumphant on both occasions by large margins. Ivan Pendes and his team would be confident in progressing to the First Round.
The D Grade will play Hazara (Saturday Division 4) at home on 2 April 2011 in the Reserve Cup. Kickoff will be 12:30pm. Hazara were in Saturday Division 4 last season before being removed halfway through the competition for failing to meet their reserve match requirements. In the one previous fixture between these two clubs, the scoreline finished 1-1. This presents a challenging first match for the new youthful looking D Grade squad.
The full draw for the Preliminary Round of both Cup competitions is available on the SAASL website.
The fourth weekend of trial matches saw the squads take significant shape as the coaches prepared their troops for 2 April 2011. The A Grade, B Grade, and Social Es had a tough test, visiting the 2010 'treble winners', Parafield Gardens, on Sunday. On Saturday, the C Grade and D Grade hosted the St Peters Division 4 squad, whilst the Social Fs played their divisional rival (and new SAASL club) One Tree Hill.
Each match was keenly contested. The weekend's results were:
A: Parafield Gardens 4-1 OISC
B: Parafield Gardens 4-1 OISC
C: OISC 2-2 St Peters 4A
D: OISC 2-4 St Peters 4B
E: Parafield Gardens 'C' 3-1 OISC
F: OISC 2-2 One Tree Hill
This Friday night, we launch our 2011 season at the Captain's Armband Presentation evening (details on the left frame).
Next weekend, our A Grade, B Grade, and Social Es visit Hahndorf in the (now) traditional end of preseason match, whilst the C Grade, D Grade, and Social Fs visit Athelstone on Sunday.
The third week of trial matches saw the A Grade, B Grade, and Social Es visit Para Hills East (Sunday Premier Division), the C Grade and D Grade travel to Polonia (Sunday Div 4), and the Social Fs host St Peters C2 (Saturday Div 4B). With a number of player's missing due to the Long Weekend, all teams were stretched but at the same time some players had the opportunity to impress their new coaches and perhaps cement a spot in a higher side.
The weekend's results are set out below:
A: Para Hills East 3-0 OISC
B: Para Hills East 4-0 OISC
C: Polonia 4-4 OISC
D: Polonia 2-1 OISC
E: Para Hills East 3-4 OISC
F: OISC 2-3 St Peters C2
Next weekend, the A Grade, B Grade, and Social Es visit Parafield Gardens (Sunday Premier Division) on Sunday, whilst the C Grade and D Grade host ISC Raptors (Sunday Div 9C1 and Div 9C2) on Saturday afternoon. The Social Fs host their league opponent One Tree Hill (Saturday Div 6) on Saturday morning.
The A and B Grade sides enjoyed the hospitality of Ingle Farm last night in two trial matches played under the new lights at Walkley's Reserve.
The clubs have met a few times in recent history. The A Grade defeated Ingle Farm 3-2 in the First Round of the Challenge Cup in 2010, whilst the B Grade overcame Ingle Farm 2-1 in the Semi Final of the Reserve Cup in 2009. Ingle Farm most recently finished 3rd in both the Sunday Premier League and the Sunday Premier League Reserves.
The A Grade fielded a depleted lineup and ultimately succumbed 0-5. After competing strongly for the first half, our opponent's superior fitness was in full display and they finished comfortable winners.
The B Grade were unlucky to lose 0-1, conceding a goal in the final minutes of the match.
The first team squad faces another Sunday Premier League team this Sunday in Para Hills East. The C and D Grades are at Polonia, and the Social Es will also be playing Para Hills East. The Social Fs have the only Saturday fixture this weekend, taking on St Peters C2.
Another warm day was at hand as OISC traveled west to The Parks Community Centre to take on Adelaide Uni in what was believed to be the first preseason sextuple header of its kind in Adelaide amateur football.
The OISC A and B Grade teams faced off against the Adelaide Uni sides that they are replacing in the Saturday Premier Division in 2011. The C and D Grade teams came up against the same Adelaide Uni (2) teams that they will face during the season in Saturday Division 3. The Social teams played against Adelaide Uni (3) who will be playing this upcoming season in Saturday Division 4. Adelaide Uni proved to be challenging opponents across all the levels, with all matches played with great endeavour and in good spirits.
The results finished:
Adelaide Uni 2A 3-0 OISC 1A
Adelaide Uni 2B 2-2 OISC 1B
Adelaide Uni 3A 4-0 OISC 3A
Adelaide Uni 3B 1-3 OISC 3B
Adelaide Uni 4A 1-5 OISC 5C
Adelaide Uni 4B 5-0 OISC
This Thursday night, the OISC A and B Grades will travel to Ingle Farm (Sunday Premier Division) to play under the new lights installed at Walkley's Park.
Next weekend, the OISC A, B, and Social E teams will take on Para Hills East (Sunday Premier Division) on Sunday, the OISC C and D Grades will face off against Polonia (Sunday Division 4) on Sunday, and the Social Fs will match up against St Peters C2 at a location TBA.
A scorching day welcomed in the first competitive matches for OISC in season 2011 at SAWSA Park.
OISC was hosted on the day by Unley Rangers Football Club, a progressive outfit in Division 1 of the Collegiate League who, in future, intend to join the semi-professional leagues of the FFSA. Unley were very kind in allowing OISC to utilise the second pitch for one match so that the Social Fs could play their fixture at the same venue as the other five OISC teams. All matches were played in testing conditions, with the referees requiring drink breaks at regular intervals. There were encouraging performances from a number of OISC players, both new and old, which bodes well for the season ahead.
The results are set out below:
A Grade 1 v 1 Unley Rangers
B Grade 3 v 2 Unley Rangers
C Grade 1 v 2 Unley Rangers
D Grade 3 v 1 Unley Rangers
Social Es 7 v 2 Unley Rangers
Social Fs 0 v 6 Unley Rangers
Next week, all six OISC teams will play against Adelaide Uni at The Parks.
OISC was able to field six full teams today for the first time ever in preseason, as three internal trials were held at UniSA Magill.
The day was supplemented with a free BBQ and drinks provided by the club. The cobwebs were dusted off and the benefits of the preseason running program (or for some, the lack thereof) were out on display. As a plus, this was the first set of internal trials for a number of years where an OISC player did not receive a serious injury. Next week, the A Grade through Social Es will play against Unley Rangers (Collegiate Division 1), whereas the Social Fs will tackle Salisbury Villa 'C'.
OISC is pleased to announce today the establishment of 'social football' teams in 2011.
After fielding six men's teams in 2010, the club has decided that in 2011 the previously selected 'E' and 'F' teams will now become the 'Social Es' and 'Social Fs'. These social teams will be available to players of all abilities that wish to play football with their friends in a social (but competitive!) environment. Players will therefore not be subjected to the traditional selection structure at the club in our A Grade through D Grade sides. To fit in with the 'social' theme, these teams will be entered into the 'C Grade' competitions of the SAASL (which kick off at 11:30am), so that players can enjoy the rest of the day supporting their club.
If you would like to play for OISC in 2011, and think 'social football' is the way forward for you (and your mates), please contact the club.
Season 2011 is upon us!
Preseason commences tonight from 6:45pm at Margaret Bond Reserve, Glenunga. Training continues on Thursday at the same time and venue. From week 2 (next Tuesday 1 February 2011) we will be training three times a week until trial matches commence, at which point there will be two training sessions per week with a weekend match.
For a full copy of the Preseason 2011 Player Pack which includes a full preseason program (including trial matches), details regarding subs and sponsorship, and prices for club merchandise, please email the club.
The 2011 preseason will commence on 25 January 2011 at Glenunga.
The season proper starts on Saturday 2 April 2011. A full preseason program will be available in January and on the OISC Forum (link me)
At the present moment, we envision that we will again field 6 teams in the SAASL competitions this year, but that will be determined after an assessment of the number of players that participate in preseason. The SAASL is contemplating the initiation of a Saturday Over 35 competition, and we may also be in a position to field a team in that league.
OISC are pleased to announce that Bill Cagialis will coach the A Grade in season 2011. This will be Bill's third year in the position.
Bill was always the preferred candidate of the committee, and after he informed us any commitment to the role would not be adversely affected by his new job, we are happy to reappoint him. Bill is excited about the new season and we all hope that the success of 2010 can be built upon and replicated in 2011.
OISC are also pleased to announce that Lenny Vella will coach the B Grade in season 2011. Lenny is new to OISC.
Lenny was most recently the B Grade coach of Elizabeth Downs, and remembers our setup fondly after the thrilling encounter between Downs and our B Grade in the Reserve Cup this year. Lenny has previously had a long association with Salisbury Inter, coaching a number of championship-winning B Grade and C Grade teams. We welcome Lenny to the club and wish him every success at OISC.
We are still seeking coaches for our Division 3A and 3B teams (C Grade and D Grade). If you are interested or know of anyone that is interested, please contact the club.
The OISC Annual General Meeting was held last night at the Robin Hood Hotel, and was well attended by a wide cross-section of the club. A number of matters were discussed and robust debate ensued. Three members of the Executive Committee (Joel Ortner, Tom Earls, and Mato Siklich) officially stepped down from their positions. They were replaced by Daniel Arbon, Brett Durand, and Marc Lissner who were elected unopposed.
Daniel Hurt (President), James Kitching (Secretary), Nicholas Tallarida (Treasurer), Daniel Rossi, Steven Sinclair, and Michael Pannunzio (all General Committee members), were re-elected to their various Offices within the Executive Committee.
In a watershed moment for the club, the first ever Life Members were appointed. Pursuant to the club Constitution, life members are afforded the privilege of zero dollar playing subscriptions and a vote at each AGM. The following list of life members was drawn up following consultation with the founding members and former club Presidents:
Renato Arboit
Rick Calo
Anthony Caruso
Chris George
Peter Krupka
David Leach
Pat Love
Chris Papps
Bob Parrington
Frank Spinelli (RIP)
Marco Spinelli
Stephen Uren
Craig Walker
We congratulate them all. If you would like a copy of the AGM minutes, please contact the Secretary via email. All club members have been emailed a copy.
As per the norm, OISC will be hosting Summer Kickaround sessions at Margaret Bond Reserve prior to preseason commencing.
The first scheduled session will be on Tuesday 7 December 2010, kickoff off at 7pm. They will continue every Tuesday thereafter until the commencement of the 2011 preseason (anticipated to be late January). OISC will provide playing equipment, please BYO boots, shinpads, and drink. All welcome.
