The club, having become an incorporated entity, found it a legal requirement to have an official guiding document as per the Corporations Act. In August 1996, the OISC constitution was born.

Controversially, it contained the infamous clause 7.6:

"No person shall be entitled to be nominated for or elected to the Office of President of the Club unless they attended the St Ignatius College senior school (howsoever named) in the State of South Australia as a student, for a period of no less than one (1) school year".

The constitution remained unchallenged until December 2007, where three motions were brought:

1. to change the club name to incorporate the word 'football';
2. to remove clause 7.6; and,
3. to increase the number of permitted committee members.

The AGM of November 2008, however, brought significant change. Many aspects of the document were modernised. Significantly, clause 7.6 was slightly altered, to incorporate the words "or have been a member of the club for five (5) years". Resultantly, Dan Hurt became the first non-Ignatian President of the club, in its 26^th year of existence.

The AGM of November 2009 saw some minor amendments made to the constitution. The club disciplinary process was updated to include procedural fairness rules that had previously been lacking. Thankfully, however, the process has only been used twice in the previous 8 years
